      BUY A PADEL RACKET?

Choosing a racket that suits you doesn't have to be difficult. Are you a beginner? Then we recommend a round racket! Do you already have a lot of tennis experience? Then you could start looking at a teardrop-shaped racket. You must know what all the differences are between the rackets. There are differences in materials, weight, shape, hardness, and for which type of game the racket is intended. And you can imagine that all those different factors lead to a lot of combinations, and that is why there are so many types of rackets.

All these differences translate into: power, control, how the ball jumps off the racket, manageability, and the sweet spot. The sweet spot is the spot on the blade where you can get the most power out of the racket.

      Weight

Essentially, you can say: the lighter the racket, the more manoeuvrable you are and the easier it is to control the padel racket. So the heavier the racket, the less manoeuvrable and the harder it is to control the racket. In addition, it is also true that the heavier the racket, the more power you have and the harder it is to control the racket.

The differences in weight range from 330 to 385 grams. And yes, those few grams make the world of difference.

THE SHAPE OF A PADEL RACKET

      Round:

With a round racket, the weight is mainly in your hand. As a result, the racket feels very light and you will be more manoeuvrable with it than with the other shapes. In most cases, a round racket has less power than the other 2 shapes. In addition, a round racket is ideal for beginners, but that does not mean that a round racket is only for beginners. For example: Top 10 WPT player Augustín Tapia also plays with a round racket! And there are countless other examples like that.

      Diamond:

With a diamond-shaped racket, the weight is mainly in the top of the racket. In other words, the racket is top-heavy. This means that when you, for example, smash with a diamond-shaped racket, you will experience much more power. But also less speed because the top-heavy racket creates a lever. The sweet spot is smaller and higher up on the blade. In addition, this shape is suitable for advanced players.

      Teardrop:

With a teardrop-shaped racket, the weight is mainly in the middle of your racket. This is therefore the middle ground of the other 2 shapes. So both power and control! This is often the next step after a beginner's racket. This shape is therefore suitable for experienced and advanced players! Thickness: Generally, all rackets are between 36 and 38 mm thick. The most common thickness is 38 mm.

      Hardness:

For the hardness of Padel rackets, it applies: the harder the racket, the more control you have and the longer your racket will last. The softer the racket, the more power. The disadvantage is that your racket will last less long.

Speaking of durability, heat and moisture can also affect the durability of your racket. Playing in the rain will therefore shorten the life of your Padel racket. But also leaving your racket in the back of the car with the sun on it is not good for the durability of your racket. So it is not a crazy idea to buy a racket for indoor and outdoor (but then do it at Balwin Padel, then you will get your money's worth 😁).

Balwin Padel has the latest collection of Padel rackets every year so you can buy them on time. Let us know if you don't know which Padel racket to buy.

THE BALANCE OF PADEL RACKETS: HOW DOES IT WORK?

Padel rackets can have different balances. Even if you buy a round racket, where the balance is low, the balance can still differ from other round rackets. The same applies to teardrop-shaped rackets and diamond-shaped rackets. The balances can vary greatly. For the year 2023, we plan to clearly indicate the balance and weight of all rackets from the top lines of all different types, so you know exactly which padel racket to buy!

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MEN'S AND WOMEN'S PADEL RACKETS?

Is there a difference between men's and women's rackets? Well, not really. The difference between men's and women's padel rackets often lies in the weight and design. It is recommended that women take a lighter racket to prevent injuries. But it is also good for beginner men to play a lighter racket so that they can learn a good technique without getting injured.
