WHAT IS IMPORTANT WITH PADEL BALLS?
The official norm for tennis and Padel balls is established in size, weight, and pressure. The weight of both balls is the same, between 56 and 59.4 grams. The diameter of tennis balls is between 65.4 and 68.6 mm and that of a Padel ball is between 63.5 and 67.7 mm. There seems to be little difference, but the diameter is (partly) determined for the type of ball you play Padel with.
The pressure is determined by dropping the ball from a height of 254 cm. (Good) Tennis balls then bounce between 138 and 151 cm high, while (good) Padel balls bounce back between 135 and 145 cm. The ranges of pressure and diameter ensure that the balls could be the same, but Padel balls on average bounce a bit lower and are smaller in size than tennis balls. Your Padel racket is more likely to break with a heavier ball (so also a wet ball).
Padel balls simply bounce a bit lower because the field is also smaller. If the balls would bounce as high as tennis balls, it would be too easy to hit a smash back to your half. The balls at Balwin Padel have been carefully selected for you. We highly recommend that you make sure you're playing with Padel balls, as this makes a world of difference. Especially when you implement the tips and tricks from our knowledge base!
DIFFERENT PADEL BALLS
Balls are made in factories all over the world. This is perfectly logical when you consider that Padel is becoming more and more popular, which increases the demand for specific Padel balls! To the naked eye, you will see just a green-yellow ball, but there are differences in the ball per brand. For example, it can vary how the ball is woven. Brands can do this in 3 different ways, which has a different effect on how the ball bounces and "moves" through the air. This can make a ball significantly slower than a "fastball."
It is logical that there are differences between different brand balls. But even brands produce different types of balls to appeal to different types of Padel players. For example, Head has a Pro and a Pro S line. The Pro is slower than the Pro S. The pros on the World Padel Tour play with the Pro S line because it is faster and more attractive to watch. This is perfectly logical from a commercial perspective. The more audience, the more interesting it becomes for sponsors, etc.
