BALWIN PADEL TOUR SERVES UP R1 MILLION PRIZE POOL IN SOUTH AFRICA’S BIGGEST LEAGUE YET

3 October 2025 – Waterfall City, Midrand. South Africa’s padel revolution has officially begun. The Balwin Padel Tour launches today, marking a defining moment for the country’s fastest-growing sport with a record-breaking R1,000,000 prize pool across six national events.

The opening tournament is being hosted this weekend, from 3–5 October, at the spectacular Balwin Padel Waterfall City, setting the tone for a high-energy season that will culminate in the Masters Final in May 2026.

The Munyaka venue features five world-class covered courts from MejorSet, the official supplier of Premier Padel and the World Championships, paired with synthetic turf from Mondo in Italy, widely regarded as the finest playing surface in the world.

The venue’s centre court with stadium seating (a first in South Africa), along with a pro-shop, cafe, and coffee bar, elevates the game from a recreational pursuit to a fully immersive social experience.

Sebastian Brokmann, Managing Director of Balwin Padel and known affectionately as ‘Mr Padel’, commented:

“We’re making history with the Balwin Padel Tour, the biggest prize league ever played on South African soil. But it’s not just about prize money. It’s about creating a world-class padel ecosystem: from the quality of our courts to the community we’re building around the game.”

“The Munyaka facility is a game changer. From MejorSet courts to Mondo turf and covered play all year round, we’re offering a level of quality and consistency that players deserve. This is how South African padel takes its place on the world stage.”

The Balwin Padel Tour will travel to six of Balwin’s premier lifestyle estates across the country, including Mooikloof in Pretoria and Thaba Eco Village in Johannesburg South, before culminating in the Masters Final in May 2026. The R1 million prize pool will be distributed across the season — R100,000 per event, with R400,000 awarded at the Masters Final.

Players will also accumulate ranking points across all events, adding a competitive edge to each stop on the calendar.

The tour has attracted some of South Africa’s most exciting talent, including Adam van Harte, Sebastian Brokmann, Aidan Carrazedo, Karyn Hambridge, Joel van Rensburg, and Jason Blakey Milner — all notable SA-ranked players and proud Balwin Padel ambassadors.

To ensure accessibility for all skill levels, the Balwin Padel Tour features multiple divisions based on age and experience, from rookie and intermediate to advanced, over 40, and premier categories. Player placement is determined by Playtomic rankings, ensuring fair and competitive matchups at every event.

Fans unable to attend in person can still catch the action, with live streaming available via the Balwin Padel YouTube Channel, bringing South Africa’s biggest padel league to a national - and global - audience.

Dates for the remaining tournaments will be announced later in October, building anticipation as the tour travels across Balwin’s growing padel network.

Key sponsors and partners supporting the Balwin Padel Tour include Balwin Properties, Wilson, and Royal Padel, whose collective backing ensures the event’s professional standards and world-class delivery.

Each stop on the tour will include categories for men, women, and mixed doubles, with open entry for both amateur and professional players. Off-court, fans can look forward to live entertainment, food trucks, and family-friendly activities, transforming each event into a celebration of sport and community.

Backed by Balwin Properties, Balwin Padel reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to wellness, community engagement, and sustainability. Through the Balwin Foundation the group is also exploring ways to grow access to padel among underprivileged communities - ensuring that the sport’s rapid rise benefits players from all backgrounds.

Steve Brookes, founder and CEO of Balwin Properties commented:

It’s always been my vision to create lifestyle estates where communities can connect. Padel is a low-impact sport that enables people to socialise and maintain healthy lifestyles, and this premier facility at Munyaka takes it one step further.

“The centre court will have stadium seating, a first in the country, which will allow spectators to also fully immerse themselves in the action.”

Padel has grown exponentially in South Africa, with more than 1,200 courts, 388 clubs, and over 300,000 registered players, according to Playtomic. The sport’s accessibility and fast-paced format have helped it become the world’s fastest-growing sport, with more than 25 million players across 90 countries.

“Padel is exploding globally, and South Africa is ready to take its place on the map,” concluded Brokmann. “The Balwin Padel Tour is just the beginning - we’re building a legacy for the sport.”
