All you need to know about the Asunción P2: rankings, draws, prizes, and TV
Premier Padel is coming to Asunción to play the seventh tournament of the year. Here's everything you need to know about this event that will start three consecutive weeks in South America.
Points
The tournament in Asunción is a P2 event, meaning that the champions will earn 500 ranking points, which are tighter than ever. The finalists will get 300 points, the semi-finalists 180, and the quarter-finalists 90.
P2 tournaments are the events with the lowest rank within Premier Padel, so they distribute fewer points.
Asunción
The event will take place at the SND Arena in Asunción, the venue where the World Padel Tour was organized in previous years. In 2023, Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia defeated Martín Di Nenno and Franco Stupaczuk in the final of the WPT Paraguay Padel Open, while Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar did the same against Ari Sánchez and Paula Josemaría.
This will be the first time that padel visits Paraguay under the leadership of Premier Padel.
Top 4
The big news from this tournament will be the absence of Alejandra Salazar and Tamara Icardo due to discomfort in the elbow of the Madrileña. The beneficiaries are Marta Ortega and Vero Virseda, who move up to the fourth position.
In the men's category, Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto, champions in Brussels and Seville, have overtaken Paquito Navarro and Juan Lebrón and now hold the second place.
1- Coello-Tapia 2- Galán-Chingotto 3- Navarro-Lebrón 4- Stupa-Di Nenno
1- Josemaría - Sánchez 2- González-Brea 3- Triay-Fernández 4- Virseda-Ortega
Draws
The anticipated confrontation between Galán and Lebrón would have to wait until a hypothetical final. Chingotto-Galán will face Coello-Tapia in the semi-finals, so the Seville semi-final could be repeated. Remember that in the women's draw, the top 4 pairs start in the round of 16.
Where to watch - TV
The early rounds of the tournament can be watched on the YouTube channel of Premier Padel. From the quarterfinals, the Asunción P2 will be exclusively available on Red Bull TV, a free-to-download application.
Prize Money
The Asunción P2 will distribute a total of €250,000 in prize money.
